The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was founded in 1967 by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto as a direct challenge to the dictatorial rule of General Ayub Khan. Bhutto united people from all walks of life at the Party’s inaugural convention in Lahore, forming a democratic movement determined to restore the rights and dignity of the nation. Guided by Bhutto’s vision of an empowered and progressive Pakistan, the PPP inspired a nationwide struggle against dictatorship and injustice. Over time, it emerged as the country’s leading populist force, championing reforms such as land redistribution for peasants, nationalization of key industries, and administrative restructuring to curb bureaucratic dominance.
